Today (16 September 2026) The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) joined forces with CULTURED to host an exclusive reception and business networking event on September 12, 2026, at Thai Tavern Toronto. Held amidst the vibrant atmosphere of the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) 2026, the event welcomed over 100 attendees including film producers, directors, leading actors, and top-tier creative professionals from around the world to explore new dimensions of filmmaking and tourism in Thailand under the “Amazing Location Thailand: From Scene to Scenic” campaign.
Mr. Nithee Seeprae, Deputy Governor for Marketing Communications at TAT, delivered the welcome address and outlined the project's direction. He emphasized Thailand’s readiness to welcome international film crews, highlighting that the country offers filming locations that are far more than just beautiful scenery or backdrops; they are living locations rich in stories, playing a pivotal role in driving narratives and adding powerful depth to storytelling. The event also highlighted the concept of "Healing is the New Luxury" reflected in the warmth and hospitality of local communities and the expertise of the Thai support teams who closely assisted the production crews. This atmosphere of care revitalized and inspired creative professionals, aligning with the "Visitor Economy" concept which prioritizes value, meaningful experiences, and long-term sustainability.

The event was vibrant and well-attended by key figures from the international film and contemporary art sectors. Notable guests included Cameron Bailey, CEO of the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF); and Taleeb Noormohamed, a Canadian Member of Parliament and Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Innovation—a senior Canadian government representative driving policies on AI, creative tech, the digital economy, and entertainment media innovation. They were joined by film producers, media representatives, and influential artists to exchange perspectives and discuss opportunities for collaborative film projects with Thailand.

The event's success reflects the power of integrated collaboration among "Team Thailand." TAT worked closely with the Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP) under the Ministry of Commerce and the Thailand Film Office (Department of Tourism) to showcase the comprehensive readiness of Thailand's film industry. World-class production studios, the capabilities of Thai personnel, and financial incentive measures, specifically cash rebates of up to 20–30% for foreign productions, serve as key factors that build confidence and continuously attract global entertainment production investment to Thailand.

As a highlight of upcoming activities, TAT has invited international film production teams, directors, location scouts, and renowned artists and influencers both domestic and international to explore 10 specific routes. These trips offer an immersive experience of Thailand’s diverse landscapes, local cultures, and rich historical narratives. The initiative aims to spark creativity, inspire script development, and encourage the selection of Thailand as a filming location for future global cinematic projects.

Film producers and those seeking inspiration can download a brochure featuring these 10 highlight locations along with filmmaking tips and details on cash rebate incentives at www.tourismthailand.org/amazinglocationth.
