Today (March 19, 2026) at Parliament, Capt. Thamanat Phromphao, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives, stated at a meeting before the vote for Prime Minister that, as a Member of Parliament, he believes that people in the provinces who have sought their assistance are being helped and that the governors in each province are currently working to resolve their problems. Capt. Thamanat went on to say that the government's existing measures treat indicators rather than the basic cause.
He also stated that if a country knew how to address problems and anticipated a war, the government would quickly stockpile oil. As a MP, he showed concern and underlined the need of being a voice for the people, representing low-income earners and the working class. He suggested that the party aim for a 15% representation rate, saying that with 58 MPs now representing 12% of parliament, everyone should carry out their responsibilities to the maximum.
Capt. Thamanat determined that the Kla Tham Party functions like a family, and hence any vote should be unanimous, representing the collective decision of all 58 MPs on the party's direction. "Absolutely no breaking lines, If you break lines, you must do so in the meeting room," Capt. Thamanat stated. He went on to say, As the opposition in parliament, we must be constructive. Any problems made in parliament should benefit the people and the country. Avoid discussing personal topics or individuals that are not beneficial. He don't want the political situation to degrade.
After the meeting, Capt. Thamanat disclosed that the Kla Tham Party unanimously agreed to abstain from voting for the Prime Minister.
