Today (7 April) 3:23 PM at Rangscammer, Om Samet—Chong Chom area, on the Thai-Cambodian border in Surin Province, Rear Admiral Surasan Kongsiri, spokesperson for the Ministry of Defense, gave an interview regarding the future management of the area. He stated that it depends on both governments. If there is an opportunity to discuss the matter at the Thai-Cambodian Joint Border Commission (JBC) meeting and examine the border demarcation area to determine which country it belongs to, then we will need to discuss the structure and how to proceed in this area.
Rear Admiral Surasan added that, from a public perspective, this area remains a high-risk area due to the presence of buildings and infrastructure. Therefore, there is a risk of the area becoming a hideout and stronghold for opposing forces. Consequently, it may eventually be necessary to dismantle or control the area to ensure the safety of both the forces operating along the border and the civilian population.

Rear Admiral Surasan reiterated that Thai forces have taken control of this area themselves. During the clashes between Thailand and Cambodia, it was discovered that Cambodia was using drones to attack Thai forces, as well as deploying snipers to attackThai troops. Therefore, Thai military forces had to suppress these activities, necessitating an advance and control of this area.
When asked about the possibility of a third clash, Rear Admiral Surasan stated that whether or not a third clash occurs depends on Cambodia. He emphasized that Thailand has no policy of aggression against any country and maintains its stance according to the JBC (Joint Border Commission) agreement or military operations guidelines. He confirmed that there will be no further troop deployments in the area. Regarding a third clash, he reiterated that it depends on how much provocation Cambodia places on the Thai side.
