Today (8 April) Khunying Sudarat Keyuraphan former leader of the Thai Sang Thai Party, stated that while the two-week ceasefire agreement between the US and Iran this morning is good news, the future remains highly uncertain, as it is only a temporary two-week halt. She requested the government to consider policies to alleviate the problems faced by the public, focusing on two areas. Firstly, a policy to reduce fuel prices, which can be done in two ways: 1. Adjusting the fuel price structure, which the government has already undertaken, is commendable, but a reduction of only 2 baht may not be sufficient. She noted that the government has been comparing the price increase from 3-4 baht last month to 14-16 baht this month, a difference of 10 baht, yet the reduction was only 2 baht. 2. Regarding fuel taxes. Regarding the excise tax on fuel and VAT, I have consistently urged the government to reduce or exempt these taxes. This would reduce the price of fuel by up to 10 baht. I would like to ask the government to consider this.

Secondly, concerning managing the nation during this crisis, we cannot think normally anymore. I want the government to tighten its belt and reduce all non-essential expenses. I would like to point out that construction projects, including large-scale buildings and roads, with a budget of 200 billion baht, must be cut first. This money can then be used to subsidize fuel taxes and assist ordinary citizens, such as farmers and low-income workers, to ensure their survival during this crisis.
