Today (April 21, 2026) at 12:47 PM, at Government House, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul gave an interview following the Cabinet meeting regarding the upcoming official visit to Thailand by Wang Yi, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and Minister of Foreign Affairs. He stated that the visit includes both personal matters and opportunities for discussions with Thai officials, given their long-standing familiarity.

He emphasized that most issues between Thailand and China focus on cooperation, with Thailand potentially requesting China to increase imports of agricultural products, such as rice and fruits, alongside further investment and support in technology transfer. Regarding border discussions, Mr. Anutin noted they would be treated as open agenda items and declined to elaborate further at this time. Concerning reports of a missing national flag in Chanthaburi Province, Mr. Anutin stated that he had not yet received a report on the matter.

Reporters then inquired about the inaugural "Economic Cabinet" meeting. Mr. Anutin announced that the meeting is scheduled for Monday, April 27, 2026. Representatives from the private sector—including the Board of Trade of Thailand, the Federation of Thai Industries, and the Thai Bankers' Association—will be invited to propose ideas and discuss economic issues. This first meeting will cover critical topics such as economic stimulus measures, announced government policies, and the "Thai Helps Thai Plus" project.

When asked about the possibility of issuing an emergency decree to borrow 500 billion baht, Mr. Anutin said discussions are ongoing. He has assigned Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Mr. Ekniti Nitithanprapas, to provide specific details as he possesses the complete data. He emphasized the core principle: if a measure effectively stimulates the economy, generates circulation, and increases public spending power, the government is prepared to proceed.
