Today (May 7, 2026), at approximately 1:30 PM at the Parliament House, Mr. Peerapol Kanokwalee, Secretary-General of the Setthakij Party (Economic Party), alongside Mr. Chris Potranandana, Party Chairman, and the party’s list MPs, held a joint press conference to demand that the government cancel both the MOU 43 and MOU 44 agreements between Thailand and Cambodia. Mr. Peerapol expressed his gratitude to the Prime Minister for bringing the cancellation of MOU 44 to the Cabinet’s consideration, noting that it would bring clarity to the conservation of maritime resources. However, he remained concerned and urged the government to disclose the in-depth details of certain agreements that remain unknown to the public, in order to verify whether Thailand has been placed at a disadvantage regarding its national interests. Furthermore, the party maintains that for the protection of national sovereignty to be complete, the government must also cancel MOU 43, as the long-standing ambiguity and overlapping border claims have consistently caused distress and loss of life for Thai citizens in the area.

In addition, the Setthakij Party proposed a concrete solution by calling on the government to expedite the construction of a border wall between Thailand and Cambodia to establish a clear boundary. They suggested utilizing over 200 million baht from the Hathaitip Fund to support this operation, aimed at cutting off the cycles of illegal immigration, contraband smuggling, and drug trafficking across the border. At the conclusion of the press conference, party members engaged in a symbolic gesture by chanting "Build the Wall!" three times to remind the government to take a decisive stand in addressing border issues and genuinely safeguarding the nation's interests.
