Today (29 October 2026) at 10:59 AM at the Royal Thai Armed Forces Headquarters, General Nattapong Prawkaew, Chief of Staff of the Royal Thai Armed Forces, addressed questions regarding whether the situation along the Thai-Cambodian border requires further assessment particularly in light of Cambodia’s ongoing information operations (IO). He stated that the armed forces are fully prepared; the Chief of Defence Forces has already emphasized this during meetings with the commanders of the various service branches. Regardless of the information disseminated by Cambodia, the Thai military remains ready, drawing upon lessons from two previous instances of conflict to guide its strategy. Discussions have focused on developing the military’s capacity to confront any type of situation across all dimensions. Regarding the Thai-Myanmar border, where ongoing fighting has occasionally resulted in weaponry landing on Thai soil, the armed forces have established procedures for situational assessment. They utilize existing border security mechanisms such as the General Border Committee (GBC) and the Regional Border Committee (RBC) to address these incidents, and the Thai side consistently lodges formal protests whenever such incursions occur.
