Beijing – On 14 November 2025, President Xi Jinping and the First Lady formally welcomed Their Majesties the King and Queen of Thailand at the Great Hall of the People, hosting an official welcome ceremony at the East Gate Plaza before the royal audience.

During their discussions, President Xi praised the deep-rooted friendship between Thailand and China, reaffirming the well-known sentiment, “China and Thailand are not strangers, but brothers.” He also expressed condolences over the passing of Queen Sirikit the Queen Mother, noting that despite global changes over the past five decades, China and Thailand have remained “good relatives, good friends, and good partners.”
President Xi further highlighted His Majesty the King’s decision to choose China as the first major country for an official State Visit, describing it as a meaningful gesture and a historic moment, as His Majesty becomes the first Thai monarch to visit China since the establishment of diplomatic relations.
He called on both nations to work together toward building a “China-Thailand Community with a Shared Future,” emphasizing that this moment marks the beginning of a new chapter in bilateral history. Xi stated China’s readiness to collaborate with Thailand to shape the next 50 years of cooperation, spanning economic partnership, people-to-people exchanges, and sustainable development.
Additionally, previous reports revealed discussions on China’s plan to consider purchasing 500,000 tons of rice from Thailand, an encouraging signal of long-term economic cooperation between the two countries.
