On 18 November 2025, Mr. Siripong Angkasakulkiat, Spokesperson for the Office of the Prime Minister, held a press briefing on the results of the 8th Cabinet meeting regarding assistance for flood victims. The government resolved to adjust the criteria for flood-relief compensation from a one-time payment of 9,000 baht to an increased allowance of 5,000 baht per month for cases of four-month flooding.

Mr. Siripong stated that the Prime Minister is deeply concerned about the current flooding situation, especially in certain areas where flooding has persisted for more than six months. As a result, new compensation criteria have been reviewed in accordance with the proposal from the Ministry of Interior and the Budget Bureau, overseen by Mr. Paradorn Prissananantakul, Minister attached to the Prime Minister’s Office.

Under the previous criteria, compensation was a one-time payment of 9,000 baht for people experiencing flooding for more than 30 days. Later, the Ministry of Interior requested consideration to expand the categories of eligible victims by providing compensation to people living in areas surrounded by water that affect daily life, including high-rise buildings, whereas previously only households with water entering the home were eligible.

For victims experiencing stagnant flooding for 31–60 days, an additional 5,000 baht will be provided. Those affected for 61–90 days will receive another 5,000 baht. Therefore, in cases of four-month flooding, victims will receive a total of 29,000 baht in compensation.

For those experiencing flooding lasting more than 5–6 months, additional criteria are still being considered and will be proposed later. The government will provide all compensation payments to victims in a single installment within this year.
