Today (6 Feb), reporters learned that on 5 Feb 3:00 PM at Ban Nong Chan, Khok Sung Subdistrict, Khok Sung District, Sa Kaeo Province, Mr. Kanthas Phongpaiboonvech, or Kan Jom Palang, stated that tomorrow a convoy of 20 container trucks will head to the border of Trat Province. He has coordinated with the Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Navy. "I have already worked with the Marine Corps Commander and the Trat Provincial Police Commander, who will be providing security for the team unloading the containers tomorrow. As you know, there are both 'gray' and 'black' Chinese (referring to Cambodian nationals) present, and we fear Cambodian soldiers may enter the area to cause trouble," Mr. Kanthat said.
He added, "The Navy has deployed personnel to provide security for the workers constructing the containers. I also want to thank the Trat Provincial Police Commander, who will be managing traffic. There are many container trucks traveling on the road at the same time, which could lead to accidents or traffic congestion. I apologize to the public using the roads in the area, as the containers are being transported to protect the soldiers and the people in Trat Province.
Furthermore, Mr. Kanthat stated, 'We don't know if Cambodia will stage a scene like what happened in Sa Kaeo Province, where they brought in crowds to provoke and spread images of soldiers allegedly harming civilians. Our soldiers would never do that. It's normal for soldiers to carry firearms, as they are standard-issue weapons while stationed along the border. "The Cambodians are already accusing us of pointing guns at them, constantly trying to create a situation. We are trying our best to ensure everything runs smoothly and successfully in all aspects.
