Today (19 March) at 9:35 AM at the Parliament, Mr. Nattapong Ruangpanyawut, leader and prime minister candidate of the People's Party, commented on the perception that the opposition has not adequately scrutinized the energy crisis and oil prices. He stated that the official opposition actions have not yet begun because the prime minister has not yet been voted on. However, as members of parliament, they are discussing the possibility of proposing an urgent oral motion for discussion in today's parliamentary session to find a solution. He believes the majority of the government will give them the opportunity and space to debate and offer suggestions to the caretaker government. He thinks that something equally important right now is the shortage of oil, especially refined oil, which the government seems to have yet to provide a clear answer to. "Who is hoarding? And I understand that today the government will be inviting various businesses involved in the supply chain for discussions. I think the easiest thing to do to restore public confidence is to disclose information transparently."

Mr. Nattapong added that since the crisis began, the People's Party has sent MPs or representatives from the area to survey fuel prices to see where the public is experiencing problems or shortages. Essential goods have also seen price increases in many areas. This information will be compiled to reflect public sentiment today. If the government gives them the opportunity in parliament, they are ready to submit recommendations to the caretaker government to resolve the problems as quickly as possible.

When asked about criticisms that the People's Party is being too lenient towards the Bhumjaithai Party, Mr. Nattapong stated that there was no leniency whatsoever. He believes that today's debate on the prime minister's qualifications will include discussions on this matter. He believes that Members of Parliament, especially from the People's Party and other sectors, will likely raise this issue. However, he clarified that this is not a no-confidence debate, so they must maintain a proper discussion atmosphere. He affirmed, however, that scrutiny is possible at every stage, including submitting recommendations regarding the prime minister's qualifications.
