Today (March 25, 2026), at the Parliament building, Mr. Sia Champathong, a party-list MP from the People's Party, submitted a letter regarding labor protection laws, along with a network of workers, representatives from the Labor Council, labor federations, and labor unions.

Following the dissolution of Parliament on December 12, 2025, labour protection bills were passed: the draft Labor Protection Act "The Rest Allowance Version," proposed by MP Charas Kumkhainam, which aims to return time to workers by reducing working hours to a maximum of 40 hours per week, increasing weekly days off, and increasing annual leave to 10 days/year and the draft Labor Protection Act "The Human Dignity Version," proposed by MP Wannawipa Maisan, which affirms that all workers must be treated equally and requires workplaces to provide areas for breastfeeding. These bills had previously received their first reading in Parliament during the previous session. However, both laws have stopped and continue to be debated as a result of parliament's dissolution before their consideration was completed.

He also noted that labor is a critical component in fueling the country's economy. During the war crisis, which has a direct impact on job security and quality of life, workers are being saddled with an even greater responsibility. Meanwhile, regulations that should improve the quality of life for workers across the country are set to be passed in an irresponsible manner.

He asked the following from the government of PM Anutin Charnvirakul

1. The government must immediately reinstate both worker protection bills, the rest period bill and the human dignity bill, for parliamentary debate.

2. When the third labor protection law, the "Bill on job security," is introduced in the House of Representatives, the government and ruling party must support it.
