Today (March 25, 2026), Pol. Col. Tawee Sodsong, a MP party-list, the leader of the Prachachart Party, held a press conference about the incident on the night of February 19, 2026, in which assailants used an M-16 assault rifle to shoot Mr. Kamolsak, a police officer who was also the driver of the vehicle. Pol. Col. Tawee remarked that no one has the right to be murdered by a military weapon, and that the incident had place on a major route leading into Narathiwat

The Prachachart Party urges the police and competent authorities to investigate and identify the mastermind, particularly the governor. Mr. Kamolsak, the MP for Narathiwat Province who earned the most votes and is well trusted, is not safe, and this incidence caused public concern.

"We understand that the police are working, but the individual who was shot was also a police officer. Despite having surgery, his condition remains vital," says Pol. Col. Tawee said.

Pol. Col. Tawee underlined that the Prachachart Party engages in politics to advance its ideology. Justice and equality are paramount. The Prachachart Party will put justice before military action. However, because this occurrence has impacted the party, they will continue to communicate about it, including   PM Anutin Charnvirakul, who has urged and followed up on the matter. The officer added that he wants a full investigation and arrest, not just pressure tactics, and that it must be a coordinated operation, given his knowledge of the culprits' movements.

He continued that he wants peace and justice in the South, emphasizing the necessity of protecting lives and property and hopes that the government will pass legislation limiting the carrying of firearms.

Mr. Kamolsak thanked the Prachachart Party and its members, particularly those from the three southern border provinces who came to offer assistance following the tragedy. He stated that he has no personal issues with anyone, and that the investigating team will collect evidence. He advocated trust in the police's efforts to apprehend the offenders.

However, Mr. Kamolsak added that a failure to catch the offenders will badly influence investor and tourism trust, and he does not want the people in the three southern border provinces to endure any additional suffering.
