Today (5 April) at 6:30 PM at the Kantharalak District Office, Sisaket Province, Lt. Gen. Adul Boonthamcharoen, Minister of Defence, presided over the opening ceremony of the event “Uniting Thai People, Reviving the Heart of Kantharalak: A Tribute to Unity and Brave Soldiers.” The event aimed to boost morale among citizens affected by border situations and express gratitude to the soldiers sacrificing for national sovereignty.

The delegation included Ms. Traisulee Traisaranakul, MP of the Bhumjaithai Party and former Deputy Secretary-General to the Prime Minister, and Gen. Chaiyapruk Duangprapat, Chief of Staff of the Royal Thai Army. Mr. Anurak Thampramajitt, Governor of Sisaket Province, welcomed the guests, stating that the event showcased the unity of Sisaket's people and featured a light and sound show titled "Kantharalak: Homeland Protector of Sri Sikhareshuan."

Mr. Wichit Trisaranakul, President of the Sisaket Provincial Administrative Organization (PAO), reported the event's objectives:1.To honor the Monarchy and the Royal Family for their compassion toward border-affected citizens.2.To strengthen national unity and encourage multi-sectoral participation.3.To restore public morale.4.To commemorate and honor the brave soldiers and personnel.5.To promote tourism and stimulate the local economy.

Lt. Gen. Adul Boonthamcharoen stated in his opening speech: “This is my first official event since being appointed Minister of Defence by Royal Decree. I am impressed by the grandeur and the meticulous planning. Reflecting on past conflicts, such as in 2009 at Pha Mo I Daeng and Huai Ta Mariao, I recognize that Kantharalak was the most directly affected area. I believe we can develop Phu Makheua into a major tourist destination.”

He further reassured the public: “I brought the Chief of Staff and the Commander of the Suranaree Task Force here to ensure you can live normally. Please rely on official government media rather than unverified social media reports.”
Regarding the military, he added: “As long as we wear our steel helmets and uniforms, our duty is to ensure the people’s happiness. I have served along the border since graduation, up until my time as the 2nd Army Region Commander. I am delighted to see such public support for the military.” He also urged citizens to be vigilant regarding oil smuggling amid the global energy crisis before joining the audience to watch the performance featuring over 500 actors.
