Today(April 6, 2026) 21.54 a.m., Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul, along by the new Cabinet, held a press conference at Government House to discuss the outcomes of a special Cabinet meeting. PM Anutin remarked that this was the first Cabinet meeting since the Cabinet met with His Majesty the King to take the oath of office. From that point forward, this Cabinet has complete authority to administer the country. Today, the government seeks to reduce people's responsibilities and suffering as a result of the Middle East conflict, which is a key source of oil and gas production. This has resulted in a dramatic spike in global oil and natural gas prices, particularly in Thailand, which relies on Middle Eastern energy imports. Even if the crisis has been settled, the infrastructure needed for oil production will take time to return to normal. As a result, oil prices and petrochemical shortages will continue for some time. Although the administration is doing everything it can to obtain fuel and natural gas, the losses in the Middle East make it tough to find alternate energy sources.

“The new Cabinet confirms that we will work hard to solve problems, find ways to help, and protect the interests of all parts of the public in order to get through this pandemic together. I wish the public to have trust in this government; we will support and work for you because we are from you," the Prime Minister stated.
The government would prioritize decreasing public sector expenditures to help lessen the impact on the public, as well as adjusting fuel and energy costs to ease the burden on the people as soon as possible. It will also undertake relief measures such as the "Half-Price Plus" and "Thai Helps Thai" initiatives, as well as offer low-interest loans to farmers, all industrial sectors, and SMEs. Details will be disclosed once the policy statement is presented to Parliament.
