Today (9 April) 8:16 AM at the Parliament, Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkaew, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, gave an interview regarding the deaths of the three crew members of the Mayuri Naree who are still stranded on the ship. He stated that according to the information received, human remains were found, suggesting they are unlikely to be alive. The ship owner will be the one to release the details. Regarding initial assistance, the company operating the Mayuri Naree will provide clarification. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has already coordinated with them. The Ministry of Labor will handle compensation matters.

Mr. Sihasak added that he must thank the Omani government and request their assistance in coordinating with Iranian authorities to bring the Thai ship stranded in the Strait of Hormuz back to Thailand.

When asked about the Israeli attack on Lebanon, Mr. Sihasak said that the situation in the Middle East remains unchanged. He expressed hope that the ceasefire would ease tensions, allowing ships to pass through the strait. He also mentioned the current agreement between the United States and Iran, urging respect and adherence to it, noting that this period offers an opportunity for peace.

Regarding the prospects for peace negotiations in Pakistan, Mr. Sihasak stated that it is an effort by all parties and that all countries worldwide desire peace, given the extensive damage already caused. He emphasized the need to look ahead and find a path to peace.

When pressed on the impact of the ceasefire on Thailand's oil purchases, Mr. Sihasak replied that the ceasefire would certainly lead to a positive direction for Thailand's oil purchases, but the specific outcome remains to be seen.
