Today (April 9, 2026) at 8:15 a.m. at the Parliament building, Mr. Nattapong Ruangpanyawut, leader of the People's Party, spoke about the preparation for the government policy debate on the first day. He indicated that the public should follow the debate in Parliament, as over 20 MPs are prepared to participate. The content of the debate will directly address the people's hardships, particularly the economy, the environmental crisis, and the energy crisis. He noted that discussions with other opposition parties regarding work and time allocation have been finalized. Each party has prepared its own content, as this differs from a no-confidence debate where the opposition must deliberate on details together beforehand.

When asked about the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) preparing to file a petition with the Supreme Court against 44 former Move Forward Party MPs—who signed a petition to amend Article 112—for an alleged serious ethical breach on April 9, Mr. Nattapong stated that, as far as he knows, the process is normal. If there is no acceleration, the court will likely issue an order after the Songkran holiday. He emphasized that this issue has not distracted the party from the policy debate. The People's Party is ready to perform its duties to the fullest but remains vigilant. However, he urged the public to keep a close watch if there is any attempt to rush the process.

When asked about Mr. Taopiphop Limjittrakorn, a Bangkok MP, stating that this might be his last debate, Mr. Nattapong said he had spoken with Mr. Taopiphop, Mr. Surachet Praveenwongwut, Ms. Sirikanya Tansakul, and others among the 44 MPs. Everyone currently serving in Parliament is performing their duties to the best of their ability, and no one is discouraged. If a political accident occurs, he believes that their gathering to work in politics today is to create change. Regardless of their position or role, they are ready to continue moving politics forward for the people.
