Today (April 10, 2026), at 1:00 PM at the Parliament, Dr. Warong Dechgitvigrom, MP and leader of the Thai Pakdee Party, issued a statement following his parliamentary debate yesterday regarding the missing 600-700 million liters of fuel. He stated that this is another form of national plundering during a crisis affecting the people. He further revealed figures from the Department of Energy Business from mid-March, specifically concerning diesel fuel. "A loss of 600-700 million liters from the system is a very high figure," Dr. Warong said.
He added, "Therefore, I want to urge Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport Pipat Ratchakitprakarn, in his capacity as Director of the Fuel Situation Monitoring Center, to explain this in Parliament. However, yesterday (April 9, 2026), I waited until evening, but he did not come to explain. This reinforces my belief that the figure is true. I want to urge Mr. Pipat to explain today because there is still time."
Dr. Warong continued, "The amount of oil sent to gas stations nationwide from mid-March to the end of March reached 70 million liters. Compared to January, where 51 million liters of fuel were delivered to gas stations nationwide, this figure increased by almost 20 million liters in March, yet the public was restricted from refueling. For example, on April 5, 2026, the fuel depot distributed 37 million liters to gas stations; on April 6, 2026, the depot distributed 46 million liters to gas stations nationwide; and on April 7, 2026, 42 million liters of diesel were delivered to gas stations nationwide. This data is believed to reinforce the suspicion of a national fuel theft operation."

Dr. Warong further stated that if the 600-700 million liters of fuel were real, an inspection of the depots would reveal stockpiled fuel. The lack of such figures raises suspicions that they might be "phantom fuel" figures submitted from the depots, potentially linking to refineries as well. If this operation is real, it would be a large-scale national theft. The Department of Special Investigation (DSI) will handle the missing fuel case as a special case. He believes that if they truly wanted to catch the culprits, it would be very easy, as they know the fuel's distribution chain from source to destination, including how much the refineries supplied to the depots.
"Oil traders under Section 7 can verify how much they received from refineries and how much they paid to gas stations. Gas stations can also verify how much they actually received. That's all it takes to verify," Dr. Warong continued. He added, "The DSI's and the Ministry of Energy's working group's inspection of GPS at various warehouses is, in my opinion, a charade. If they were genuinely investigating, they could check the accounts, as there are only a few companies that own oil refineries."
"I want to appeal to Mr. Anutin and Mr. Pipat, who were responsible during this period of problems. Today is the beginning of the policy statement and the start of the government's term. If you can't resolve this issue, it's undignified. I fear it will stumble and the government won't survive. Therefore, during this time, please clarify where this oil went and punish those who are corrupt. But if you can't resolve it, when we use our power as a parliamentary committee, I'm warning you, the government won't last, and that minister will go to jail," Dr. Warong concluded.
