Today (14 April) 10:00 AM Reporter reported that Ms. Sirikanya Tansakul, Deputy Leader of the People's Party, led People's Party MPs, including Mr. Natcha Boonchaiinsawas, Ms. Chalanat Koykul, Mr. Narupol Lertpanyaroj, and Mr. Karunpol Thiansuwan, in a traditional Songkran water-pouring ceremony for the elderly. Many elderly people from senior care centers in the Thonburi, Chom Thong, Nong Khaem, Bang Khae, and Bang Khun Thian areas participated in the event. They enjoyed a lively circle dance in the traditional Songkran dance.
Afterward, Ms. Sirikanya stated that on Songkran Day... May the Triple Gem protect you all, granting you happiness, good health, a good quality of life, and a long life with us. Mr. Karunapol offered Songkran blessings, saying, "On this Thai New Year, may everyone have good health, may all your wishes come true, and may you be very happy throughout the year and beyond." In addition to the water-pouring ceremony, there was also the distribution of gifts to the elderly, such as snacks, electrical appliances, and essential items.
Ms. Sirikanya stated that the People's Party's annual general meeting is held every April as required by law. She acknowledged a change in the party secretary-general position because Mr. Sarayuth Jailak has resigned, necessitating a new election. Regarding the party leader position, she said they would await clarification on the court's decision concerning the 44 MPs. Currently, the legal team is requesting copies of documents from the court, as there are over 1,000 pages three boxes per person to study to draft the counterarguments and request a stay of execution. She anticipates that the court's decision on whether to accept the case will take some time, unless the court can review the documents quickly, in which case a decision might be made sooner. However, judging from the number of documents, it's unlikely to happen quickly.
Ms. Sirikanya also mentioned the People's Party's candidate for Bangkok governor, stating that the official announcement will take place soon. She confirmed that a candidate has been selected and revealed their qualifications, stating that they possess leadership qualities and a vision for a better Bangkok, aligning with the party's Bangkok policies for implementation after the gubernatorial election. The individual is a well-known politician within the party.
