Today (15 April) at a traditional Thai-style house in Sri Prachan District, Suphan Buri Province, Mr. Varawut Silpa-archa, Minister of Industry, paid respects and sought blessings from Mr. Praphat Phothisuthon, MP for Suphan Buri and former Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives, during the Songkran festival, the Thai New Year. The atmosphere was joyful and refreshing.

Mr. Varawut thanked the community leaders, village headmen, and the people of Sri Prachan from various areas, who are important supporters of Mr. Praphat. He stated that this year, they gathered again to seek blessings for the new year, to receive blessings from respected elders, and to pay respects to elders who are pillars of service for Suphan Buri. He added that they were fortunate to have made the right decision to come this year, as these two, uncle and nephew, work for Thailand. "He has continuously contributed to Suphan Buri province, and every year he always says that no matter where one is or what position one holds, it's not as important as the uncle-nephew relationship between Praphat and Varawut.

Praphat has been a great general under King Banharn for many decades, as far as I can remember. Even today, my Uncle Praphat remains unchanged, a pillar for us people of Suphan Buri province, a protective shade tree, a large tree spreading its branches, watching over us, especially those in the Sri Prachan district. As for his age, there's no need to mention it, because each year Praphat never seems to age. Not only does he never age, but I've also never seen anyone standing beside him as a bride. This means that when he does, he'll probably be old," said Mr. Varawut.

Mr. Varawut added, "This New Year, as a nephew and a native of Suphan Buri, I've come to show my respect and gratitude to my respected elder and to receive blessings for my nephews and all the guests here. I invoke the blessings of all the sacred things in Suphan Buri province, Luang Pho To of Wat Pa Lelai Worawihan, and the spirit of King Naresuan the Great. May the Shrine of the City Pillar of Suphan Buri and the spirit of Phra Banharn bless Mr. Praphat with physical and mental strength and wisdom for a long time. Happy New Year.

Mr. Praphat said, "For 51 years, we have never abandoned each other. We have practiced this tradition for decades. Mr. Varawut also comes every year, showing our close bond and respect. As Mr. Varawut said, we are uncle and nephew, and we help each other. I have been here since the time of Mr. Banharn, developing Suphan Buri together until now, when it is widely recognized. Today is a very auspicious day: the Thai New Year and Songkran. May everyone be blessed with good fortune, good health, lasting stability, and great wealth. Amen So wealthy already!
