“Ekniti” Confirms Public Debt Ceiling Remains Unchanged at 70%

Today (April 22, 2026) at 1:40 PM at Government House, Mr. Ekniti Nitithanprapas, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, gave an interview regarding the results of the 2027 fiscal year budget framework meeting. He stated that the discussions with the four key economic agencies were finalized and the original principles remain in place.

When asked whether there had been discussions about adjusting the public debt ceiling from 70% to 75%, Mr. Ekniti clarified that such an extension is not yet under consideration. He confirmed that the ceiling remains unchanged at 70% before departing from Government House.
