Today (April 21, 2026) at 2:00 PM, Mr. Abhisit Vejjajiva, Leader of the Democrat Party and List MP, received a petition from the President of the Palm Oil Growers' Federation of Thailand at the Parliament Building. The federation requested the party to monitor the government's handling of the palm oil crisis and ensure fairness for farmers. The president remarked that the pricing problem has severely impacted farmers, who are facing high living costs and unfair treatment, and advocated for a reform of the palm oil price structure.

According to Mr. Abhisit, MPs are not ignoring this issue, as agricultural commodity prices were discussed during today's parliamentary debate. Regarding palm oil, he stated that the government must balance all factors, especially the impact on consumers. He noted that misunderstandings regarding export permissions—which some mistook for an export ban—led to a price decline that hurt farmers. He emphasized that the government must implement long-term plans to support and stabilize prices. The Democrat Party will continue to monitor the situation and propose relevant legislation.
