Today (28 April 2026), 9:38 AM at Government House, Ms. Sabida Thaiseth, Minister of Culture, spoke about the restoration of Ta Kwai Castle, stating that it is currently in the process of requesting budget allocation. The Fine Arts Department has already completed its initial survey, so the restoration is expected to take approximately 2 years. The Ministry of Culture is continuously coordinating with the military in the area to clear the site, and officials are ready to provide all necessary assistance.

Regarding whether the area is currently safe and free from conflict, Ms. Sabida stated that she cannot confirm this, as it is a matter for security forces. However, based on information received, officials will provide assistance and assure safety when entering the area.

Ms. Sabida continued that the restoration will aim to return the castle to its original appearance as closely as possible. Currently, various technologies are available to restore it to its original form. However, there may be some difficulty in distinguishing between old and new colors, but she confirms that the restoration will maintain its original style, as the restoration process is not complex. Furthermore, the Fine Arts Department has personnel with the knowledge and expertise to restore it to its original beauty. However, after the restoration is complete, it can be opened as a tourist attraction, but improvements to the area and landscaping may be necessary.
