Today (28 April 2026), 9:30 AM at Government House, Mr. Varawut Silpa-archa, Minister of Industry, gave an interview regarding measures to alleviate the impact on SME entrepreneurs facing rising fuel costs for transporting goods. He stated that the Ministry of Industry, through the Small and Medium Enterprise Development Bank of Thailand (SME D Bank), has expanded loan coverage to SMEs for special interest rate loans under the "SME Green Productivity" project, a government policy loan program. With a low interest rate of only 3% per year, fixed for the first 3 years, the loan can be repaid over a maximum of 10 years, with a maximum loan amount of 30 million baht per borrower, from a total budget of 10 billion baht.
Mr. Varawut further stated that this project is not just about providing capital but about upgrading Thai SMEs to "green industry" to be competitive on the global stage according to the new trade rules that emphasize the environment. Entrepreneurs can use the loan to switch vehicles to clean energy sources other than electric vehicles (EVs), install solar panels, and modify machinery to use clean energy. Applications can be submitted from today until December 30, 2026.

Mr. Varawut said that interested entrepreneurs can apply from today until December 30, 2026 (or until the budget is fully utilized) through SME D Bank branches nationwide, LINE Official (@SMEDevelopmentBank), website (https://www.smebank.co.th/loan/greenproductivity/),and Call Center 1357.
