Today (May 5, 2026) at Samyan Mitrtown, the People’s Party introduced Chaiwat Sathawornwichit, the candidate for Governor of Bangkok. During his vision speech, Chaiwat addressed the daily struggles of Bangkokians, noting that while the city is "convenient" for the wealthy, it is incredibly "difficult" for street vendors, riders, and office workers.

"Life in Bangkok shouldn't be this hard," Chaiwat stated. He highlighted how commuting and caregiving currently strip away 3–4 hours of quality time daily. To "reclaim time" for the people, he presented his core strategy: "Simpler Bangkok for a Simpler Life."

The 4 Key Policies:

1.Easier Family Care:

• Upgrade BMA Child Development Centers with extended hours to support working parents.

• Establish "Elderly Day Care" centers for socialization and rehabilitation.

• Hire 5,000 full-time professional caregivers to assist bedridden seniors directly at home.

2.Easier Business:

• Expand vending zones without obstructing sidewalks and eliminate "tea money" (bribes).

• Collaborate with residents to develop new community-led tourism hubs.

• Transform 10 BMA vocational schools into "Reskilling Centers" that partner with the private sector to match training with actual job demands.

3.Easier Commuting:

• Integrate data for buses, trains, and boats into a single platform with real-time GPS tracking.

• The BMA will operate buses on routes currently neglected by private companies.

• Revive BMA boat services in 3 major canals to make a "car-free" lifestyle truly possible.

4.Easier Living:

• Odor-Free City: Cancel contracts for stinking waste plants and replace them with hygienic, closed-system facilities.

• Transparent Bureaucracy: Eliminate the choice between "waiting forever" or "paying under the table" for business or construction permits through a transparent digital service system.

"Bangkok should be the safety net when you fall and the wind beneath your wings when you are ready to soar. It must be a city that embraces you in tough times and provides opportunities when you want to leap forward. This is the agenda I offer to the people of Bangkok," Chaiwat concluded. — Chaiwat Sathawornwichit
