May 5, 2026 – Samyan Mitrtown: Natthaphong Ruangpanyawut, Leader of the People’s Party, joined Wiroj Lakkhanaadisorn—the party's previous gubernatorial candidate—to officially introduce their candidate for the upcoming Bangkok Governor election: Dr. "Joe" Chaiwat Sathawornwichit, a current List MP for the People’s Party. Along with the candidate, the party debuted its executive team, advisory board, and candidates for the Bangkok Metropolitan Council (S.K.) across all 50 districts.
Natthaphong addressed the stage regarding the party's decision to compete in the Bangkok arena, stating that fielding a candidate is not merely about political posturing or maintaining a voter base, but an opportunity to present an urban agenda for what Bangkok should look like in the next 4 to 10 years.

“We want to create a Bangkok that serves as a safety net for those who fall and as 'the wind beneath the wings' for everyone. We envision a city with welfare that embraces everyone equally, creating opportunities to grow, establish oneself, and expand businesses. We want a city where trading, raising a family, and commuting are easier for everyone."
However, Natthaphong noted that these goals cannot be achieved by a Governor alone. To fully improve the quality of life for Bangkokians, cooperation is required across multiple levels:
• MPs: To amend laws and increase Bangkok’s authority to manage city life.
• The Governor: To set policy directions, manage the city, and drive administrative machinery.
• Professional Executives: To oversee specific sectors using experience, data, and specialized knowledge.
• District Councillors (S.K.): To work closely with people in every district, scrutinize budgets, and push for district-level agendas that meet local needs accurately.
• The People: Residents must be protected by the city and play a vital role in building it through participation and monitoring performance. A good city must facilitate easy, transparent, and meaningful public participation.
"Today, I confirm that the People’s Party is entering the gubernatorial election with full readiness in all aspects. Many may see this as a difficult battle—and I admit it is, as the current Governor has performed well and is well-liked. But we are ready to fight because we are confident in our Bangkok agenda and our 'Full Team,'" Natthaphong stated.

The Bangkok Executive Team:
1.Woraphop Viriyaroj: Economics and Finance
2.Wiroj Lakkhanaadisorn: Anti-Corruption
3.Wallop Tree-leuk-ngam: Welfare
4.Prof. Amorn Pimanmas: Public Works and Civil Engineering
5.Dr. Phairoj Boonsirikamchai: Public Health
The Advisory Team:
1.Decharut Sukkumnoed: Quality of Life and Environment
2.Piangpanor Boonklum: Bureaucratic Reform
"This is a full team that possesses political will, specialized expertise, and the ability to push for legislation. We are ready to turn 'hard' issues into 'easy' ones—such as 30-baht healthcare rights, patient transfers, traffic management, public transport routing, and tackling PM2.5 pollution," Natthaphong added.

He emphasized that these are structural issues requiring simultaneous pressure at all levels—from decentralizing power from the central government to local authorities, to amending national laws like the Land Transport Act and the Clean Air Act, alongside passing local city ordinances.
Natthaphong concluded by reaffirming that the party's candidates are of the highest caliber, ready to work in both the legislative and executive branches to transform Bangkok from a "Difficult City" into an "Easy City" for everyone.
