Today (May 8, 2026) at the Government Complex, Chaeng Watthana, a joint meeting between public and private sectors was held. Ms. Supamas Isarabhakdi, Minister Attached to the Prime Minister's Office, in her capacity as the supervisor of the Office of the Consumer Protection Board (OCPB), presided over the meeting on collaboration and monitoring of regulatory measures for products on online platforms.

In her role overseeing the OCPB, she led the integrated meeting with government agencies and private sector representatives, including the TISI, ETDA, Anti-Online Scam Center, and major e-commerce platforms, to establish strict measures for online product regulation and consumer remedy guidelines. The focus is on high-risk products and a transition toward proactive operations.

Ms. Supamas revealed that she received orders from Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul to expedite the resolution of consumer complaints. The government aims to transform the OCPB’s workflow from "reactive" to "proactive," specifically in controlling consumer goods that fail to meet TISI standards—such as power strips, hair dryers, and power banks—which pose significant risks to life and property.

A "3-Dimension" roadmap was unveiled to enhance safety in the digital era:

Dimension 1: Legal – Pushing for the Draft Liability for Defective Products Act (Lemon Law) and amending the People's Version of the Food Act to increase authority in announcing dangerous product lists and immediately recalling products from the market.

Dimension 2: Complaint Management – Engaging the Thailand Consumers Council as a core mechanism to reflect issues and co-determine safety standards with the government to ensure precise problem-solving.

Dimension 3: Digital Safety – Strengthening "Online Seller Verification" and mandating the inclusion of quality assurance data to completely close loopholes for scammers and irresponsible entrepreneurs.

Beyond central measures, the government supports local surveillance networks to build "Digital Immunity," ensuring citizens can shop online with confidence nationwide. This collaboration marks a crucial step in improving quality of life and setting new standards for Thailand's economy.

"I reaffirm that the government stands by the people and is ready to support every measure to ensure Thailand is a society with truly safe products and services. Citizens must be protected and cared for by the government. No one will be left to fight alone," Ms. Supamas Isarabhakdi stated.
