Today (20 October 2026) at 9:24 a.m. at Government House, Mr. Julapun Amornvivat, Minister of Labour and Leader of The Pheu Thai Party , spoke to the press regarding the party’s stance on the impending no-confidence motion, which is anticipated to focus specifically on ministers from the Bhumjaithai Party. Julapun stated that since the party is part of the current administration, any questions concerning the Cabinet’s work will be addressed within the proper legal framework. He emphasized that because Pheu Thai participates in every Cabinet meeting and shares in the collective approval of government policies, the party is confident in its ability to provide comprehensive explanations regarding its official duties and missions. As for matters outside the scope of Cabinet responsibilities, he expressed confidence that the individual ministers under scrutiny will be able to offer their own clarifications. He noted that no-confidence motions are a standard part of the political process, and given that the Cabinet is experienced having navigated such challenges many times before they will certainly be able to address the public’s concerns. He underscored that this forum serves two purposes: it acts as a platform for the opposition to level accusations, while simultaneously. The Cabinet will have the opportunity to explain its work to the public and a positive chance to provide clarity to the citizenry.

When asked whether the voting process might present any issues, Mr. Julapun stated that there would be none. As members of the same government, there is no cause for concern or suspicion; while voting is, of course, the right of individual members, political etiquette dictates that they should support one another and move forward in unison.

Regarding the allegations of collusion with senators a practice previously opposed by the Pheu Thai Party and whether the party would still vote in favor of the ministers implicated, Mr. Julapun noted that they would first need to hear the debate. In principle, however, the entire process has already passed through several stages, including oversight by the Election Commission of Thailand (ECT), and the party must uphold the integrity of the established procedures.

When asked about reports that the Kla Tham Party might join the government following the no-confidence debate, Mr. Julapun said that no such discussions have taken place. From the perspective of the coalition, adding partners would not be detrimental and could, in fact, strengthen the government’s majority. Nevertheless, any such move would require formal discussion; the Pheu Thai Party remains focused on its work and committed to existing agreements.

Pressed on whether this implies that other parties are prohibited from interfering with ministries held by the Pheu Thai Party, Mr. Julapun confirmed that this is indeed the case, as these matters were addressed in initial discussions. As for the Kla Tham Party, no talks have occurred; this remains a matter for Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, to consider and decide upon. As for whether there might be any issues including corruption that would lead the Pheu Thai Party to withhold its vote, that is not the case. We will simply have to wait and see; there is no point in making assumptions about things that have yet to happen.
