Cabinet Approves Draft Royal Decree for Sa Kaeo Constituency 3 By-Election to Fill Vacant Seat

Today (27 October 2026) at 2:00 PM at Government House, Ms. Ploytalai Laxameesangchan, Deputy Spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, revealed that the Cabinet approved the draft Royal Decree for the Election of Member of the House of Representatives for Sa Kaeo Province, Constituency 3, to Fill the Vacancy B.E. .... This comes as the MP status for Sa Kaeo Province Constituency 3 held by Mr. Surasak Chingnawan was terminated pursuant to Section 101 (2) of the Constitution of the Kingdom of Thailand B.E. 2560 on 24 October 2026, as proposed by the Office of the Election Commission (ECT Office).

Ms. Ploytalai stated that, due to the vacancy of the Member of the House of Representatives position for Sa Kaeo Province Constituency 3, Section 105, paragraph one (1) of the Constitution of the Kingdom of Thailand stipulates that in the case where a constituency MP position becomes vacant for any reason other than expiration of the House term or dissolution of the House of Representatives, a Royal Decree shall be enacted to hold an election to fill the vacancy within forty-five days from the date of the vacancy, unless the remaining term of the House of Representatives is less than one hundred and eighty days. Enacting this Royal Decree is therefore required.
