Today (27 October 2026) at 2:00 PM at Government House, Captain Phatdarasam Thongsaluaykorn, Deputy Spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, revealed that the Cabinet approved a training project to enhance labor capabilities in solar energy system design and installation to support technological transition. The Cabinet approved a budget of 972,213,300 Baht under the Royal Decree Authorizing the Ministry of Finance to Borrow Money to Resolve Energy Crisis Impacts and Drive the Country's Energy Transition B.E. 2569. The project targets training and upskilling 32,000 workers to prepare them for roles in the continuously expanding clean energy industry.
Currently, the scope of solar energy has grown beyond rooftop solar panel installations for households to include large-scale solar power plants, floating solar systems, and battery energy storage systems. These technological advancements have driven up the demand for skilled workers with expertise in system design, installation, and safe maintenance.

The Deputy Spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office added that the government focuses on upgrading workforce skills to align with technological shifts through both upskilling existing knowledge and reskilling. This aims to create job and career opportunities for the public, support the business sector with sufficient skilled personnel to match clean energy growth, eliminate specialized labor shortages, and strengthen the country's competitiveness.
This project represents a crucial step in preparing the Thai workforce to seize opportunities in future industries, generating jobs and income for citizens while driving energy transition to bolster sustainable growth.
