Today (28 October 2026) at 2:00 PM at the Government Press Center, Naree Samosorn Building, Government House, Mr. Dishawat Chan-ee, Governor of the Metropolitan Electricity Authority (MEA), provided an update on the “Solar for the Public” program. He noted that there are currently about 1,000 registered solar system installers, and registration remains open, with new names added periodically. The public can select qualified service providers from this list by accessing information via the MEA website or through promotional materials containing a QR code. This QR code leads to an infographic that allows users to browse and select trusted solar installers a choice left entirely to the private individuals seeking these services.
Mr. Dishawat explained that the MEA has proactively established a registration system for solar equipment, including solar panels and electronic components such as inverters which convert direct current. Equipment included on the lists maintained by the Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA) and the MEA is guaranteed to be of high quality and suitable for long-term use. Furthermore, such equipment comes with warranties. The public can be confident that by choosing products from the extensive, multi-hundred-item list published by the PEA and MEA, they are selecting high-quality components. The public can be confident that the products being used are of high quality and safe.
When asked by a reporter how many days it would take for the PEA and the MEA to complete the inspection and acceptance of the work following installation, Mr. Dishawat stated that the current policy allows for this process to be completed within seven days. He added that there is no need for the public or solar installers to be concerned about staffing for these inspections, as additional personnel can be allocated if necessary in the future.
