Today (3 November 2026) at 11:15 AM at Monthathip Hall International Convention Center, Udon Thani Province, Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, addressed the issue of cybersecurity. He noted that Thailand has dedicated agencies, such as those under the purview of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI) Yoschanan Wongsawat, which focus on advanced technology, as well as the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society (MDES), all of which are tasked with preventing hacking or the malicious use of cyber technology to disrupt Thai organizations. He further expressed confidence that the Royal Thai Police’s Cyber Crime Investigation Bureau (CCIB) is actively monitoring the situation and studying these incidents.

Mr. Anutin added that he had briefed the Cabinet during this morning’s meeting regarding reports from abroad, where a cyberattack targeted the refrigeration systems of retail stores across Europe, causing temperatures to rise. This is a new development that had not previously been anticipated. I have instructed the Ministry of Commerce to investigate the facts to determine whether such incidents are actually occurring and, if so, how, given that Thailand is a major exporter of goods to international markets. We must consider whether contract terms and credit arrangements need to be made more explicit to better protect our domestic producers and traders. As a nation with significant potential for exporting food products globally, it is essential that we safeguard the interests of our sellers. If goods reach their destination and encounter issues such as damage, it could potentially jeopardize payment. Therefore, we must establish a robust defense system to counter cyber threats. I am confident that our Thai agencies are fully capable of implementing such measures to protect our business operators.
