Today (3 November 2026) at 11:15 AM at Monthathip Hall International Convention Center, Udon Thani Province, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul addressed reports that a group of protesters plans to travel to Bangkok on November 5, 2026, to submit a petition calling for solutions to the cost of living and fuel price issues. He noted that current economic indicators are on an upward trend, with positive responses seen particularly in the prices of major agricultural commodities, which should benefit the public.
Mr. Anutin further stated that the government is ready to listen to all citizens. Regarding protests or gatherings aimed at conveying messages or demands to the government, he affirmed that the current Cabinet is prepared to listen; if any proposals are reasonable and beneficial, the government will take action on them.
Addressing preparations for managing the protests and facilitating the demonstrators, Mr. Anutin clarified that reports suggesting provincial governors and police were ordered to block routes into Bangkok are untrue, though there may have been other directives issued. Provincial governors, police, and transport authorities must provide full facilitation and ensure that no undue pressure is placed on the protesters. It must be recognized that those participating in the demonstrations are exercising their constitutional rights; therefore, it is the government’s duty to ensure their well-being and provide necessary support. At the same time, all actions must remain within the framework of the Constitution and the law, ensuring that no hardship is caused to others and that no damage is inflicted upon public or private property.
Furthermore, if the protesters approach the government with reason, seeking to communicate their concerns so that they may be addressed, the government stands ready to engage. This has been demonstrated previously, such as when the P-Move group protested to advocate for farmers and seek solutions to land-use issues; on that occasion, I went out to meet with them personally. I am confident that every member of the Cabinet is equally prepared to meet with protesters who approach with genuine good intentions for the public interest and the nation.
