Today (5 November 2026) at 11:45 AM at Parliament, Mr. Chaichana Detdecho, MP and Deputy Leader of the Democrat Party, gave an interview regarding the case of Kamnan Mano and Southern residents preparing to lead a 1,000-vehicle convoy toward Government House. The mobilization was announced a week in advance, with the initial movement starting at the Khuan Nong Hong Intersection in Cha-uat District, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province late last week to demand the government urgently resolve economic crises, energy prices, and falling agricultural product prices.
Mr. Chaichana addressed reports of state intelligence officers visiting local leaders and close associates to inquire whether he was behind the mass movement. He affirmed his innocence, stating he was neither behind nor organizing the mobilization. The public’s protest is a constitutional right arising from hardship over energy prices and agricultural slumps. He urged state officials to stop wiretapping phones, inspecting vehicles, or sending personnel to question local leaders, and instead focus their time on serving the public for maximum benefit.
Regarding the public demand for the government to cut fuel prices by 10 baht per liter upon reaching Government House, Mr. Chaichana noted that this reflects a sharp rise in the cost of living. He compared that 1,000 baht in the past could buy nearly 50 liters of fuel, but today buys fewer than 25 liters, representing a 50% surge in goods prices. This contradicts the Prime Minister’s past remark of being “too rich to bear,” while the public feels “too poor to bear.” He proposed two solutions to the government: cutting fuel taxes to lower retail pump prices, and directing the Ministry of Commerce through the Department of Internal Trade to seriously regulate consumer goods prices.

Mr. Chaichana warned the government against using state power to block citizens from traveling to Bangkok, as it could become a single drop of honey that expands into a major problem. Available power should be used to serve the public and prosecute lawbreakers, not turned against the citizens who own the democracy. If the government is sincere, it should send representatives to negotiate practical solutions based on the proposals.
Additionally, he questioned Southern government MPs who have never voiced support or encouragement for suffering residents. He reaffirmed that as an opposition MP, he stands alongside the people and will bring information regarding the government’s administrative mistakes to parliamentary debates and scrutiny throughout the remaining month until December 7, despite facing storms or intimidation in various forms—similar to the case where the Democrat Party Leader’s phone was hacked via iCloud.
