(SAP NEWS – Ratcha Piyathammdhaj) September 22, 2025, Ms. Ploytalay Laksameesangchan, former executive committee member and deputy spokesperson of the Democrat Party, officially announced her candidacy as a Phuket MP under the Bhumjaithai Party. She explained that her decision to switch parties stemmed from internal problems within the Democrats, adding that a truly strong political organization must be able to listen and respond to the needs of the people. Her decision took shape during her campaign for Vichit Municipality Council in Phuket, when she closely followed Bhumjaithai’s work during the COVID-19 pandemic—particularly its vaccine distribution efforts and the “Phuket Sandbox” project, which she described as highly successful and a key factor that impressed her enough to join the party.

Ploytalay further noted that while public opinion may be divided over her decision, she is confident in her choice and believes that Bhumjaithai’s proven ability to address local needs and deliver practical solutions will secure public support regardless of party affiliation.

Meanwhile, Mr. Wiwat Jindaphon, former Phuket Provincial Council member, reaffirmed his intention to run for MP under Bhumjaithai after an unsuccessful attempt in the past, expressing confidence in the party’s transport policies. He emphasized that urgent solutions are needed to address Phuket’s traffic congestion and public transport challenges, with strong backing from Transport Minister Pipat Ratchakitprakarn.

Similarly, Mr. Sanakorn Keesin, a long-time local administrator in Phuket, confirmed his decision to run after receiving support from senior party members. He pledged to bring his grassroots experience into national policymaking and expressed confidence that if Bhumjaithai secures MP seats in Phuket, the party will be able to drive development and deliver tangible solutions to the people of the province.
