(SAP NEWS – Ratcha Piyathammadhaj) On September 22, 2025, at 10:05 a.m., Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport, a key southern political figure for the Bhumjaithai Party, together with Supachai Jaisamut, Chairman of the Party’s Legal Affairs Working Group, officially introduced the three MP candidates for Phuket’s constituencies. The candidates include Ms. Ploytalay Laksameesangchan, former executive committee member and deputy spokesperson of the Democrat Party, running in Constituency 1; Mr. Sanakorn Keesin, former deputy mayor of Patong Municipality, running in Constituency 2; and Mr. Wiwat Jindapol, former member of the Phuket Provincial Administrative Organization, running in Constituency 3. Supachai stated that all three candidates will join forces with the Bhumjaithai Party to build public confidence and secure victory in the upcoming general election.
Phiphat emphasized that the party has officially approached and confirmed all three candidates and reiterated that Bhumjaithai’s key policy priority remains solving Phuket’s chronic traffic congestion, an initiative that was first proposed during Saksayam Chidchob’s tenure as Transport Minister, but was interrupted when the previous government’s term ended. He pledged that, if given the opportunity to work to his full capacity, he would personally engage local stakeholders to find practical and effective solutions to the province’s traffic problems.

Phiphat also spoke about Phuket’s economic future, highlighting its position as Thailand’s second-largest tourism revenue generator after Bangkok. He stressed the need for systematic development to unlock its full potential and reaffirmed Bhumjaithai’s commitment to transforming Phuket into a true “Pearl of the World.” This would include major infrastructure upgrades and tourism development aimed at improving the quality of life for Phuket residents and ensuring sustainable economic growth.
He further noted that southern Thailand possesses tremendous economic potential, generating nearly 900 billion baht in tourism revenue across its 14 provinces more than Bangkok, alongside robust agricultural sectors such as rubber, palm oil, and tropical fruits. With proper infrastructure support, the region could contribute even more to the national economy.
Phiphat concluded by clarifying that the invitation for new members to join the party was part of preparations to ensure readiness to work immediately after parliament is dissolved, affirming that the process does not violate the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA). He also pointed out that other political parties are already mobilizing and preparing their candidates ahead of the next general election.
