Mr. Wan Muhamad Noor stated that this marks the first time in several years that a Thai motion has been endorsed by the IPU, reflecting Thailand’s proactive role in international parliamentary assembly. “The Assembly praised us for bringing forward a motion on cybercrime, aligning it with other global concerns such as transnational crime, money laundering, and drug trafficking raised by Europe and the Americas. This represents a true success for the Thai Parliament,” he said.

He further stressed that, now that Thailand’s proposal has been adopted, the Thai government must act decisively to combat scammers and deliver tangible results. “If our own house is not clean, how can we point out that others’ houses are not?” he remarked.

He added that the issue affects not only the poor but people of all social statuses. Thus, Thailand’s initiative reflects the nation’s commitment to protecting humanity from cyber threats. While Parliament has fulfilled its role in proposing and advancing this motion, the next step rests with the executive branch, including the Royal Thai Police, Ministry of Digital Economy and Society, economic agencies, financial institutions, and the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC), to collaborate and deliver concrete progress by the time of the next IPU meeting in April.
