At 7:39 p.m., police received the first emergency call from passengers onboard. Officers arrived at the scene and arrested two suspects within eight minutes of the report.

The two suspects were detained on charges of attempted murder, one a 32-year-old Black man, and the other a 35-year-old man of Caribbean descent.

According to reports, a total of 11 people were injured, 9 of them seriously, most of whom were train staff who tried to protect passengers.

Police stated that “there is no indication the attack was related to terrorism”, describing it instead as a terrifying incident that caused widespread panic among people.

Later, on the afternoon of Sunday, November 2, police released the 35-year-old man after determining he was not involved in the attack. As a result, the 32-year-old man remains the sole suspect in the case.
