Bangkok Governor Chatchat Reports Improvement in Flood and Air Pollution Situations, Urges Public to Stay Alert

On November 18, 2025, at 9:20 a.m., Chadchart Sittipunt, Governor of Bangkok, provided an update on the current flood situation in Bangkok and other provinces. He stated that water levels are improving and the sea tide is no longer a major factor. The next significant tide is expected around December 9. Meanwhile, upstream water has begun to decrease, with yesterday’s release estimated at approximately 2,800 cubic meters per second.

Chadchart emphasized that the situation in Bangkok is not severe and is expected to improve, but expressed concern for residents in rural areas without dams for protection. He encouraged citizens to stay informed and vigilant about the ongoing situation.

Regarding air pollution, Chadchart said the situation is likely to improve due to stricter measures. These include controlling vehicle access to certain areas of Bangkok and enforcing provincial and Ministry of Agriculture regulations prohibiting open burning. He highlighted the importance of proactive cooperation across all sectors.

“Over the past seven days, the weather has been stagnant, but no open burning has occurred outside the city, preventing PM2.5 levels from reaching red or orange zones in some areas. Airflow is improving, and we urge residents to monitor the situation and take appropriate precautions,” Chadchart said. He also advised the public to maintain their vehicles and to follow proper biomass-burning practices outside urban areas.
