On 27 November 2025, the Department of Provincial Administration (DOPA) issued a clarification regarding the order to temporarily remove Mr. Ek Yang-Apai Na Songkhla, who serves as District Chief (Senior Executive Director) of Hat Yai District, Songkhla Province, from government service. The clarification document specifying the temporary removal from government service cited the following reasons:

SAP NEWS

SAP NEWS

1.The Hat Yai district chief was last present in the district on 22 November 2025, after which he could no longer be contacted. Supervisors at all levels were also unable to reach him or issue any instructions, resulting in the inability to provide timely assistance to the public.
SAP NEWS

2.The district chief failed to attend daily meetings with the Disaster Relief Center of the 46th Military Circle, which were held to coordinate operations and receive directives and instructions from supervisors regarding public assistance. This caused operational damage to government service.
SAP NEWS

Based on these two factors, DOPA issued an order transferring Mr. Ek Yang-Apai Na Songkhla, who was serving as Hat Yai district chief, to assist with duties at the Academy of Administration instead.

SAP NEWS

Subsequently, it was found that Mr. Ek Yang-apai Na Songkhla had been found by the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) to have a prima facie case of criminal wrongdoing stemming from his earlier tenure as District Chief of Nong Chik District, Pattani Province. He was alleged to have ordered members of the 10th Nong Chik District Territorial Defense Volunteer Unit, his subordinates, to use a government vehicle to transport materials for constructing his private residence in Mueang District, Songkhla Province, and to have directed them to carry out construction work on his private residence improperly.

SAP NEWS

Therefore, due to his alleged misconduct as determined by the NACC, combined with deficiencies in performing the duties of the Department of Provincial Administration, the Ministry of Interior, and responsibilities of the government, DOPA issued an order to temporarily remove Mr. Ek Yang-apai Na Songkhla from government service.
