On 10th September 2025, Charlie Kirk, founder of the student organization “Turning Point USA (TPUSA)” and a close ally of the US President Donald Trump, was shot in the neck while giving a speech at the University of Utah. Police officers are still investigating the suspect.

Charlie Kirk, aged 31, was the founder of the student organization known as "Turning Point USA (TPUSA)," which promotes conservative ideologies in universities. Over time, this organization became a significant voice among young right-wing voters, particularly influential during the 2024 election. Kirk and TPUSA were considered key supporters of Trump.

After being shot in the neck, Kirk later died from his injuries. Police arrested two suspects, but both were eventually released due to a lack of clear evidence linking them to the incident. According to BBC Verify, there is video footage capturing a suspect on the roof of the building. Authorities have stated they are still investigating whether the assassination was carried out by a lone individual or involved multiple perpetrators.

Trump responded to the incident by posting on his social media, saying: “The Great, and even Legendary, Charlie Kirk, is dead. He added: “No one understood or had the Heart of the Youth in the United States of America better than Charlie. He was loved and admired by ALL, especially me, and now, he is no longer with us.” In addition, Trump ordered that all U.S. flags be flown at half-staff nationwide until this Sunday to honor Kirk.
