Regarding Cambodia's claim that Thailand attacked civilian areas and ancient sites for military operations and caused damage, Army Spokesperson Major General Winthai Suvari stated that Cambodia had distorted the facts. The Thai side coordinated with the Institute of Forensic Science and the Ministry of Justice to survey the damage, and obtained photographic and video evidence showing that Cambodian soldiers had established a base, which is a violation of international law. Furthermore, Mr. Nikorndej Plangkur, Director-General of the Department of Information and Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, confirmed that all actions by the Thai government, including the military, adhere to Thai law, international law, and international principles at every step. Military operations to protect Thailand's sovereignty and territorial integrity will be carried out only against clearly defined military targets. He also confirmed that the Thai military's actions are clearly aimed at retaliating against Cambodian military forces and are not directed at civilian areas or locations unrelated to military operations.
Regarding the case of a Cambodian journalist who was arrested in late July and charged with “providing information prejudicial to national defense to a foreign state,”
According to a report by The Cambodian League for the Promotion and Defense of Human Rights (LICADHO), the reason for this arrest was the posting of a photo with Cambodian soldiers that reflected the use of anti-personnel mines after the ceasefire on July 28, 2025 (taken on July 30, 2025). The photo showed an unused PMN-2 mine, which was later widely published by Thai media. This is undeniable evidence and also reflects that Cambodia is restricting the freedom of the media to report news in order to conceal important evidence.
