Bangkok – LINE MAN Wongnai revealed that “Khao Gaeng” (Thai curry and rice) remains one of the most popular meal choices among Thais, with more than 52 million dishes ordered via its platform nationwide in the first nine months of 2025. The numbers highlight the resilience of Thailand’s local fast food culture despite broader economic challenges.
While overall restaurant sales fell by 14% year-on-year, curry and rice shops saw only a modest 4% decline. Small roadside curry stalls quickly adapted to food delivery platforms, helping them reach a wider customer base. Curry and rice shops now account for over 10% of all restaurants on LINE MAN.
The top three best-selling dishes are:
Kai Palo (braised eggs and pork belly in five-spice broth), boosted by social media trends.
Moo Kon Tod (fried pork patties)
Kaeng Lueang (Southern-style yellow curry)
To strengthen curry and rice’s position as both a business and cultural soft power, LINE MAN Wongnai and the Thai Restaurant Association are hosting the “Khao Gaeng - Thai Curry and Rice Championship 2025”
