Today (April 6, 2026) at 8:30 AM, the Bhumjaithai Party held a major merit-making ceremony at its headquarters to commemorate its 17th anniversary and its entry into its 18th year. The event was led by Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, in his capacity as Leader of the Bhumjaithai Party. The ceremony included both Buddhist and Islamic rites, attended by party leaders, executive committee members, MPs, and party members.

For the Buddhist ceremony, the party invited Phra Phromwachirapothiwong, Abbot of Wat Thai Buddhagaya and Head of the Thai Buddhist Missionary in India and Nepal, to preside over the rites. This was followed by an Islamic ceremony conducted by representatives from the Miftahul Ulumiddiniyah School. At 10:09 AM, Mr. Anutin arrived at the headquarters driving his personal electric vehicle (EV).

When asked by reporters if he had brought the Deputy Minister of Interior with him, Mr. Anutin jokingly replied, "The whole ministry is here." Regarding his EV, he remarked that the ride was "very quiet" before greeting Mr. Sakoltee Phatthiyakul, Deputy Leader of the Democrat Party, who arrived with a bouquet to offer congratulations.

Observers noted that Mr. Anutin had changed his car’s license plate from JT 32 to SN 32. The new plate is registered to Ms. Nainpak Charnvirakul (his daughter), whose nickname is "Tonsan" (Pine tree), matching the "SN" initials.

The morning atmosphere was warm, with representatives from various parties presenting flowers, including Pol. Lt. Gen. Piya Tawichai and Mr. Pakorn Thianchai from the Palang Pracharath Party. The Pheu Thai Party delegation was led by Mr. Julaphan Amornvivat and Mr. Prasert Jantararuangthong. Mr. Julaphan offered his best wishes for a strong government and a successful year ahead.

Mr. Julaphan added that the atmosphere was friendly, as everyone had known each other for a long time. When asked if they had shared a "water-pouring" merit-making rite to forgive past political conflicts, Mr. Julaphan laughed. Mr. Anutin then quipped, "In a past life, we were side by side, planting trees together," before returning to the headquarters to preside over the party meeting at 1:00 PM.
