Today (7 May 2026) at 10:40 AM at Military Air Base 2, Wing 6, Don Mueang Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul Prime Minister and Minister of Interior gave an interview regarding the opposition's allegations that a nominee company, under the name of "Ama," has bought up over 500 rai of land in Ranong Province before the land bridge project has even begun. When asked how he would reassure the public, he replied that the focus should be on helping the people and alleviating their suffering as much as possible. He cautioned against jumping to conclusions and emphasized that this project won't happen tomorrow; the context has changed, and previous studies were conducted under a different geopolitical context. "Right now, we need to find ways to make Thailand a self-reliant regional hub for economic growth and transportation, standing on its own two feet. Regardless of conflicts, fighting, or wars in other regions, we strive to ensure ASEAN's stability, security, and international appeal, enhancing its capabilities in line with changing global circumstances.
When asked about rumors of allowing foreigners to lease land for 99 years, Mr. Anutin said, 'The government doesn't listen to rumors. These rumors are irrelevant. This is about the land bridge investment.'

When asked if opposition criticism would hinder the project, Mr. Anutin said, "The project hasn't even started yet. We are studying and adjusting it to the current situation. We will make decisions based on the findings of the study committee, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Mr. Ekniti Nitithanprapas. There's nothing unusual about that. Regarding the land lease issue, I reiterate that everything is based on the study results.
When pressed further on whether the opposition's recommendations would be considered after the study results are released, Mr. Anutin said, 'We will listen to the people. I have instructed the committee to include representatives from the public. Mr. Ekniti has agreed and will invite relevant public sector representatives to participate.'
