Today (27 October 2026) at 10:00 AM at Government House, Mr. Worasit Liangprasert, Deputy Minister of Interior, revealed regarding the flood situation in Phuket Province that praise must be given to the strong local efforts, which successfully mobilized forces to manage the area very well. From his inspection of the area yesterday (Oct 25), the flooding in Phuket Province was caused by runoff and landslides. About 80% of the area has been cleared, with some parts remaining. Meanwhile, roads are operating normally, with only sections affected by landslides remaining. It is expected that management will be completed today and return to normal, though full surveillance remains in place as heavy rain is expected in the South during October 28-29.
Regarding Phuket Province, it remains to be seen whether it meets the conditions of the national disaster insurance scheme. Normally, even if flooding does not last a full 7 days, if homes are damaged, they already meet the criteria. As for relief measures, the province began collecting data in the area yesterday, with instructions given to proceed as quickly as possible. Naturally, this sum cannot fully replace all that was lost, but it serves as remedy and support that the government must provide to citizens in the area.

Mr. Worasit emphasized that if an area is declared a disaster zone, it will meet the criteria and be fully covered by disaster insurance. Phuket Province will certainly be declared a disaster zone, which can be done retroactively and will cover all insurance claims.
