Today (3 November 2026) at 8:20 AM at the Monthathip Hall International Convention Center in Mak Khaeng Subdistrict, Mueang Udon Thani District, Udon Thani Province, Mr. Varawut Silpa-archa, Minister of Industry, spoke to the press. He shared updates received from Mr. Phassakorn Chairat, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Industry; Mr. Phon-yot Klankrong, Director-General of the Department of Industrial Works; and Mr. Decha Chatuthanan, head of the task force responsible for inspection, oversight, and strict legal enforcement. The Ministry of Industry has launched an operation to rigorously inspect, oversee, and enforce the law regarding industrial facilities classified under categories 105 and 106, ensuring that their operations comply with established laws and standards. This initiative involves the urgent inspection of 3,049 targeted facilities.
Mr. Varawut added that the first day of the operation focused on “Group A” areas, covering five provinces: Chachoengsao, Chon Buri, Rayong, Prachin Buri, and Samut Prakan. The operation involved organizing 50 teams—10 for each of the five provinces—with each team led by an inspector from the Ministry of Industry. The initiative benefited from the collaboration of various relevant agencies, including the Department of Industrial Works, the Internal Security Operations Command (ISOC), the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, and the Ministry of Interior, with particular support from local administrative authorities.

Mr. Varawut further stated that the inspections covered 80 facilities: 26 classified under Category 105, 52 under Category 106, and two others (including a metal scrap baling plant and a plastic recycling/melting plant). Based on these findings, one facility was ordered to temporarily suspend operations and undergo improvements pursuant to Section 39, Paragraph 1 of the Factory Act B.E. 2535 (1992) and its amendments. Additionally, 63 facilities were ordered to carry out improvements under Section 37, Paragraph 1 of the same Act. Furthermore, a central task force is currently processing closure orders for three other facilities located in Samut Prakan, Chon Buri, and Chachoengsao which will effectively result in the revocation of their operating licenses; these actions are expected to be finalized shortly.
Mr. Varawut emphasized that this marked the first large-scale deployment of these task forces, enabling a rigorous inspection process. He urged all task force members to carry out their duties with determination, to exercise the courage to make decisions within the legal framework, and to always prioritize the national interest. With the safety of the public in mind, the task force will continue its operations in the area throughout the designated period until all objectives are met while emphasizing the need for strict enforcement of relevant laws.
