(SAP NEWS – Ratcha Piyathammadhaj) On September 23, 2025, at 1:30 p.m., Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Bhumjaithai Party’s leader, attended a party meeting and confirmed that he is prioritizing the government’s policy speech to Parliament. He announced that he will not attend this year’s United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York, citing concerns that international travel could disrupt the schedule for the policy speech, which marks the official start of government operations. Unexpected events, such as flight delays, could potentially cause further complications.

Anutin stressed that the country’s credibility does not depend solely on attending international forums but on effective governance and support from the Thai people. He added that issues such as foreign allegations and border negotiations with Cambodia can be addressed from Thailand and do not require a UN platform. The decision followed consultations with relevant agencies, all of which agreed with the approach.

Regarding the government policy speech, Anutin said coordination with the Parliament Speaker is underway, and the speech is expected to take place between September 29 and 30, following his oath-taking ceremony on September 24. The Cabinet will first review the policy draft before submitting it to MPs for study. The government aims to complete both the speech and debate within two days to begin full operations as quickly as possible.

On constitutional amendments, Anutin confirmed that the issue has been included in the policy draft in line with agreements among coalition parties. He also emphasized that the appointment of the Constitutional Drafting Assembly (CDA) members will follow established procedures. When asked about political controversies, he declined to comment, stating briefly, “No, I won’t discuss the drama,” before proceeding to the party meeting.
