On October 1, at Government House, Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister and Interior Minister, announced the government’s next steps in driving its economic policies. Following his policy statement to Parliament on September 30, Anutin immediately convened a Cabinet meeting to approve central budget allocations. These include funding for border security preparedness and measures to ease liquidity problems at the Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives (BAAC), aimed at supporting grassroots economic stability and improving farmers’ access to financing.

One of the government’s key priorities is the “Co-Payment” scheme, for which funds have already been earmarked in the 2026 fiscal budget. The proposal will be submitted to the Cabinet for approval next week, with public registration expected to open by mid-October. The program is designed not only to ease the cost of living for citizens but also to stimulate consumer spending and boost sales for small businesses.

In addition, Anutin announced the revival of the Economic Cabinet meetings, which will be held every Monday afternoon. The move is intended to ensure consistent, systematic, and timely decision-making on economic matters. Ministers have also been instructed to promptly brief civil servants on policy directions and prepare comprehensive issues for Cabinet consideration.

To strengthen investor confidence, Anutin emphasized that the first four months of the administration will be a crucial period to demonstrate clear investment directions. The Prime Minister stressed that the government is ready to listen to proposals and concerns directly from business operators, while avoiding ad hoc agenda items in Cabinet meetings to ensure transparency and efficiency in decision-making.
