On 13th September 2025, far-right protesters gathered to demonstrate against illegal immigrants and Muslims, marking the largest protest in the UK in decades.Over the past year, far-right protests opposing immigrants have been ongoing, with a major trigger being the mass stabbing at a dance school in July 2024. The attacker in that incident was believed to be a Muslim.

Additionally, the increasing number of illegal immigrants and the worsening economic conditions have all contributed to the widespread rise of far-right sentiment across the UK.The protest this past Saturday was organized by far-right activist Tommy Robinson, under the slogan “Unite the Kingdom”, which emphasizes national unity and calls for the freedom of assembly and expression. Reports indicate that between 110,000 to 150,000 people participated in the Unite the Kingdom protest.

A significant element of this protest was the presence of protesters holding up photographs and chanting the name of Charlie Kirk, a U.S. right-wing influencer who was recently shot dead.In addition to the large number of participants, the protest featured a video appearance by Elon Musk, a U.S. businessman with right-leaning political views.

He warned of impending violence and stirred emotions by declaring, “You either fight back or you will die.”At the same time, a counter-protest by left-wing groups was held, opposing the ideology of the far-right movement.

Tommy Robinson, the founder of the now-defunct anti-immigration English Defence League (EDL), was released from prison earlier this year

The left-wing group rallied under the slogan “Stand Up to Racism”, expressing a firm stance against racial discrimination. Reports state that approximately 5,000 people joined the left-wing counter-protest.This wave of protests in the UK reflects the current socio-political climate, both domestically and globally.

It highlights the ideological divides, the global rise of far-right movements, and persistent economic challenges that have triggered a chain reaction — from economic hardship driving migration and increased immigration, to growing hostility and division between native populations and those seeking better lives."
